AMD Ryzen Approaches as AMD Releases more Details- poised for Q1 2017 GDC release

As the hype builds up from consumers across the world, AMD unveiled many details about the new platform based on the new AM4 socket and the X370,  X300,and X370 chipsets to run the Ryzen CPUs and future Zen micro architecture CPUs.

This new platform supports both the basics and newer features the basics being SLI and crossfire, and overclocking capability. Newer features such as the below are also integrated into AM4:

  • Dual-channel DDR4 memory
  • NVMe
  • M.2 SATA devices
  • USB 3.1 Gen 1 and Gen 2
  • PCIe 3.0 capability

This should allow AMD to finally take a bite out of the Intel monopoly, Intel having had no competition since the disappointing bulldozer from AMD. This shoudl allow prices to start dropping in the CPU market as well as increase consumer choice and incentive for both to continue innovating instead of falling upon old already well established technologies, a move which intel has been committing, making only tiny improvements to their CPU’s in the past few years.

AMD also unveiled partner motherboards based on the new AM4 chipset from ASroc, MSI, Asus, Biostar, and  Gigabyte.

This comes as many are calling a Q1 2017 GDC en of February launch. Hopefully these will be coming out soon and will inject life into the stagnating desktop CPUmarket.
