The Elegoo UNO R3 Project Complete Starter Kit is a great unofficial kit made by Elegoo, a company specializing in Arduino based products. It comes with 63 different components, the most basic packed in multiple examples (e.g: LED’s and resistors), and a high quality Arduino clone board which as you will read below isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
The packaging
The kit comes in a good quality and practical box to easily store all the parts inside. A smaller box holds all the LED’s, and some of the smaller included components to avoid them being strewn across the box.

The Elegoo Uno R3 itself
The board itself isn’t an original Arduino board but rather an Elegoo Uno r3. Manufactured in China using the open source blueprints created by the Arduino foundation. These boards don’t support the non-profit Arduino project. Should you choose Elegoo or Arduino then? Read our article on the subject here. The quality of the board is excellent and has a quality feel. Adding to this, the ports are labeled both on the board and on the sides for easy identification. The layout of the board is exactly the same as a regular Arduino Uno board the PCB is cleanly cut and is overall a great looking board it comes with both an AC power supply and a 9V battery adapter to adjust to every projects needs.

Documentation/Software
The kit comes with a CD containing the Arduino IDE along with some libraries relevant to the included tutorials, drivers, and a very complete PDF guide with mini projects to use each component with. It explains how everything works, comes with schematics and clear visuals on how to build the circuit. The code needed for each ‘lesson’ is stored on the CD for easy upload to the Arduino, although it is also shown how to write the code in the lesson for those wishing to develop their Arduino programming skills.

Included Parts/Sensors/Components
The including components, while quite good for the most part, are nothing really special, all generic Chinese components found in most other kits which are quite functional but nothing to brag about. There are a TON of resistors, 10 different kinds, 10 of each kind for a total of 100 resistors, meaning you can spare to break or fry a few which is perfect for starting out. Many LED’s of each color are included although there is only one RGB LED. Also, there are many sensors, from humidity to temperature to a water detector, accelerator, and many more. There are also servo and stepper motors, one of each. there would be too many to describe individually so click below for a complete list.

Should I get it?
The price to value ratio of this kit is excellent. You get for relevantly little all the the basic and even more advanced modules such as RFID to be able to do most projects you want apart from really specific projects that require less common parts. The parts of of quite good quality, especially the board and everything comes in a box you can use to store your kit after use.
Overall for just over 50 dollars we would recommend to anyone who wants to get into Arduino and have all they need to get started into the hobby.

What a great way to get into producing working projects using the programming language “C” or a simple version of the language. I am having great fun learning to use this great kit with so many projects to try.
I have built and programmed basic 4 bit computers using “Assembly” code back in the 1970’s, now at the age of 78yrs it is a great way to stimulate the brain!
